Collateral duties include SRT Operators, Bomb Technicians, Hostage Negotiators, Firearms Instructors and Field Training Officers (to name a few). In addition to our patrol division, we have three K9s, six investigators, officers assigned as full-time task force officers at both the FBI and DEA and one officer assigned to the USMS on a part-time basis.īecause we are a smaller agency, new officers are afforded opportunities to take on collateral duties much sooner than they would with a larger agency. The department is made up of 48 sworn officers, nine communications operators and five non-sworn personnel. Now is an exciting time to join our team. The work put in by our officers, in partnership with the community, has made Marion one of the safest cities in Iowa for the past several years. We enjoy broad support from our residents as well as our City leaders. Marion is a community of roughly 43,000 people located in eastern Iowa.
