![]() Let me finish this tirade with a friendly reminder that Ultimate's online matches you heavily based on proximity, which makes it a much, much, much more tolerable experience if you live in a city with high population density. I have every character in Elite Smash (that was released by the time I dropped online a year ago), and those sorts of things happened to me regularly. You can probably tell, but even thinking about how badly they bungled this infuriates me. Ruleset compatibility should be mandatory, not a fucking suggestion. 3 minute Sonic timeout on New Pork City? Sure, why not, he'll get matched with me if he's ten miles closer than the sensible human beings. However, in Ultimate, I now have to worry about the local fucking asshat trying to cheese me with the stage and character of his choice. For Glory and For Fun had clear, established rulesets that worked perfectly for each respective environment. Speaking of rulesets, giving players control over rulesets outside of arenas was a truly retarded decision, almost certainly made by Eric Cunt of the Extra Chromosomes. Not only does Ultimate's system prevent rematching with different characters altogether, but it also intrinsically rewards quitting after 1 game, which significantly slows down the online experience since you've got to go back into Elite Smash, move your icon over to the character again, and then wait on training mode Battlefield for half an hour while the game tries to find you someone with a reasonable rulset. If you've only ever learned or played one character your entire life, then I suppose it's not a big deal, but I've always boasted a healthy roster of competitively competent characters I enjoy playing - and rarely do I want to use them for more than three or four games in a row. The inability to switch characters in Ultimate is not some minor annoyance, it's an egregious failure and frankly a deal breaker. Smash 4 also had the major advantage of having less intrinsic console-based input delay, 1-2 frames better depending on which controllers for each console we're comparing. I never noticed any improvement in input delay going from Smash 4's online to Ultimate if anything, I found decent quality connections more difficult to find in Ultimate's environment. ![]() Galint Gaming - Organizers of Battle of BC 5Ĭody - Top modern Brawl player, champion of Apex 2022Īaron - Top Ultimate Diddy Kong for Moist EsportsĪpolloKage - Current best Snake main in UltimateĬosmos - Top Aegis main, champion of Shine 2022įor a full list, click here!
